This is a simple process that I failed to go into detail about earlier in my blog. It simply gives you directions to getting a DUNS number without the hassle of the sales pitch and the 30 day wait that usually occurs.
Go to ww.ccr.gov
Then click “Start New Registration” on your left
Now choose “I am not a Government Entity” out of the 3 options given and click continue
Next, click th linked “Data Universal Number System ******”
You will be then sent to DnB’s website. Follow th instructions and you will have your DUNS number in 24 hours.
This is just an alternative for those of you who do not want to go through calling and answering stupid questions.

April 10, 2009 at 3:29 amHa! That is ingenious of how to get a D&B # (by traversing thru the Fed website, lol), and w/o having to deal w/Duns directly. A neat little trick I am saving for future reference.

May 29, 2009 at 1:24 pmGreat resource! I went through the process but I already had a number. My company is 3 years old so I guess DnB already built a profile on us. Thanks!

June 15, 2009 at 4:55 pmThis is great information. I too like the previous poster already had a DnB number. It was sent to me in a few seconds using the info you provided. TY

January 11, 2011 at 6:46 pmI know that you wrote this a couple years ago,but when I go to that website now it seems that the format of the website does not fit the description given. Could you tell me exactly how I would get it with the site's current layout?
